That the House of Representatives urge the Government to keep Outdoor Education as a senior general curriculum subject, with a dedicated curriculum written by the Ministry of Education; and note that 53,826 people signed a similar petition.
Petition reason
The Ministry of Education has proposed removing Outdoor Education from the senior general subject list. The proposal is that Outdoor Education would no longer have a Ministry-developed curriculum or assessments, and from 2026 would be treated only as a vocational subject overseen by the Services Industry Skills Body. I believe this would strip schools of flexibility to design local programmes and could risk many discontinuing Outdoor Education altogether, limiting opportunities for students.
