That the House of Representatives introduce a “right to light” law to protect New Zealand homes from excessive shadowing and loss of sunlight.

Petition reason

I believe increased building intensification at greater heights is occurring with little or no protection or consideration for existing single-storey residential homes. As New Zealand’s cities become increasingly dense, access to natural light is essential for reducing dampness and mould. I think this reform would complement the Healthy Homes Standards.
