Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Minister of Energy and Resources to drop plans for a proposed biofuels obligation and note that 3,002 people have signed a similar petition.

Petition reason

We believe growing crops for biofuels drives the destruction of the natural world, will worsen the impacts of climate change and increase the costs of both food and fuel. In our view, the proposed biofuels obligation will have the unintended, but unavoidable outcome of forcing suppliers to blend conventional, food and feed based biofuels into liquid fuel supplied within Aotearoa New Zealand from 1 April 2023 due to what we believe is a lack of sustainable feedstocks locally and globally.
