Petition request

That the House of Representatives not pass the Disability Support Services Bill; and note that 15,861 people have signed a similar online petition.

Petition reason

The Ministry of Justice NZBORA advice on the bill says the framework established by the bill discriminates on the basis of disability/marital/family status. The advice finds the bill is consistent with NZBORA, but we disagree. We believe: discrimination against vulnerable people is never justified; the bill makes the disability community second class citizens; the bill is rushed & not fit for purpose to the community's detriment & harm. The usual 6-month select committee process is cut in half.
