That the House of Representatives urge the Government to suspend the Maximum Continuous Stay and 12 months stand down period for Accredited Employer Work Visa holders.
Petition reason
Migrant workers on AEWVs must leave NZ after 3 or 5 years due to these rules. Due to current economic conditions, migrant workers may suffer job losses, debt and job instability. We believe: the policies penalize workers in the construction, healthcare & hospitality sectors; employers will lose skilled staff and workers face hardship; the rules are unfair, harm migrant workers, disrupt industries, and have negative economic & social impacts. We seek the review and suspension of these policies.
