That the House of Representatives urge the Government to provide targeted, time-limited financial assistance, including a salary top-up or other recruitment incentive, to enable Darfield Medical Centre to recruit an additional GP.
Petition reason
Darfield serves a growing rural community where access to general practice is under pressure. Recruiting doctors to rural areas can be difficult, and ordinary funding arrangements may not provide enough incentive to attract an additional GP. In my view, a targeted Government contribution towards recruitment could help secure another doctor for Darfield, improve access to primary care, and provide a practical model for addressing GP shortages in other rural communities.
