Petition request
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to fulfil their pledge of reuniting NZ citizens and permanent residents with their partners, by directing Immigration New Zealand (INZ) to process Visitor, Work and Resident Visas for partners of New Zealanders stuck offshore.
Petition reason
Partners and dependent children of NZ citizens or residents who hold a visa based on their relationship with a NZ citizen or resident partner can travel without an expression of interest/exemption, yet those with no visa wait indefinitely as no offshore visa applications are currently being processed. INZ says that due to the border being closed, no visas will be issued, but partners can’t travel without a visa so it’s a Catch-22 situation. The wellbeing of many NZ citizens is severely affected.
