That the House of Representatives urge the Government to create a temporary special category visa for Palestinians in Gaza who have family members in New Zealand.

Petition reason

The New Zealand Government has provided similar visas during previous international crises, and this is the Australian approach to the current crisis. I believe this is urgent due to the dwindling humanitarian conditions in Gaza, with over 14,000 people killed, over half of which are women or children. I believe the Government must do all it can to support people in NZ who have family in Gaza by granting visas that will facilitate their departure from Gaza and entry into NZ as soon as possible.
