That the House of Representatives urge the Government to introduce a grandfathering provision for current tertiary students who reasonably expected to receive their final year of study fees free before it was announced that the scheme is ending.
Petition reason
We understand that many current tertiary students made significant educational and financial decisions based on the Government’s commitment to provide final year of fees free study. Ending the scheme removes that expected support. We believe a grandfathering arrangement would provide a fair and reasonable transition for students who enrolled in good faith under the previous policy.
