That the House of Representatives pass legislation to make “Aotearoa New Zealand” the official name of the country.
Petition reason
Our official documents of national identity, currency and national anthem have "Aotearoa” and “New Zealand” in them, representing our country bilingually. The main islands have official bilingual names. Te Reo Māori and English are official languages. I believe making “Aotearoa New Zealand” our official name will honour the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles of partnership, participation, and protection, enhance our sense of nationhood and confirm our uniqueness in the world.
