That the House of Representatives establish a statutory minimum earnings standard for app-based delivery workers in New Zealand with the standard taking into account engaged delivery time and reasonable vehicle and operating costs.

Petition reason

I believe app-based delivery workers delivering through online platforms such as Uber Eats and DoorDash provide an important service but face significant costs. Many are contractors and are not protected by the minimum wage. Australia has introduced minimum standards for certain platform workers while maintaining flexible work arrangements. We ask Parliament to review New Zealand’s framework and consider establishing minimum earnings protections for app-based delivery workers.
