Petition request

That the House of Representatives amend New Zealand law to prohibit lump sum compensation for childhood sexual abuse to anyone convicted of a sexual offence against a child, across ACC, government redress and victim assistance schemes, while preserving access to treatment and practical support.

Petition reason

I believe childhood sexual abuse deserves recognition, and every survivor should have access to support. This petition seeks to prevent lump sum compensation payments to all people convicted of sexual offences against children, regardless of their sentence. Instead, I feel they should continue receiving funded counselling, rehabilitation, psychological treatment and practical assistance. My aim is to distinguish between providing essential support and awarding lump sum financial compensation.
