Petition request
That the House of Representatives take immediate action to roll back the changes made to the purchasing guidelines outlined by Whaikaha Ministry of Disabled People and reinstate the guidelines that were in place immediately prior to March 18, 2024; and note that 29,100 people have signed a similar online petition.
Petition reason
I believe: the changes will have profoundly detrimental effects on disabled individuals, their families, and caregivers; restrict access to supports and services that I believe are crucial, including travel-related costs, respite items, specialist services; and significantly impede the ability of disabled individuals to lead fulfilling lives; eliminating these allowances without providing a transition period leaves disabled individuals and whānau stranded without supports.
