That the House of Representatives urge the Government to cancel Acusensus contracts, and prohibit private companies from carrying out surveillance of New Zealand drivers through operating speed cameras.

Petition reason

I do not consent to mass surveillance of motorists through private roadside cameras and monitoring systems. I am opposed to this being contracted out to Acusensus, an ASX-listed Australian private company, which I think will profit from NZ public funds. I believe all enforcement, including provision of speed cameras, should be undertaken by NZ Police, who are accountable to Parliament.
