Petition request

That the House of Representatives recommend that the Government introduce amendments to the Official Information Act 1982 to allow people to request information held by Crown Solicitors in their capacity as Crown Solicitors.

Petition reason

The Official Information Act permits people to seek information from those exercising public power. I believe one of the most serious exercises of Government power is the power to prosecute. In my view, there is a gap in the OIA because of the way that Crown Solicitors are appointed. People can OIA Police about a Police Prosecution. People can OIA Crown Law. But people cannot OIA Crown Solicitors, who make most decisions in the most serious prosecutions. I think this should be permitted.
