Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to allow the Tino Rangatiratanga flag to fly permanently alongside the New Zealand flag on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Petition reason

Once a year, on Waitangi Day, we raise the Tino Rangatiratanga flag over our largest city. The next morning, it comes down. We consider that is a commemoration, not a reflection of Aotearoa in 2026. We think there is no good reason for it to come down. In our opinion, there is every reason for it to stay. To us, two flags flying side by side, every day of the year, would symbolise our nationhood: a unique history, culture and partnership that is permanent, not temporary.
