Petition request
That the House of Representatives consider removing Invercargill's Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) from the tertiary reforms.
Petition reason
Invercargill's SIT Zero Fees Scheme was funded by the residents of Invercargill in 2000. A total contribution of $7.25 million was made so that SIT could attract the required number of domestic students from around New Zealand. I believe the Zero Fees Scheme enabled domestic students from all walks of life to come to Invercargill to get a world-class education, and the influx of students has revitalised the City of Invercargill and reversed the population decline.
