That the House of Representatives consider stopping the current ballot system for the Parent Resident Visa category and changing to a transparent queue-based system, prioritising applications based on the date of lodgement.

Petition reason

Unfairness: The ballot is based on luck, thus deserving families who have contributed significantly to society may be denied the opportunity to reunite. Uncertainty and Stress: To me, the current system creates immense stress and anxiety for both parents and children. With zero certainty around the process, families can’t plan accordingly and are stuck in limbo. Lack of Transparency: Families deserve a transparent, definitive, and fair practice. I feel immigration policy should not be a lottery.
