That the House of Representatives require all secondary schools to offer School Cadet programmes.

Petition reason

I consider that Cadet Forces as a voluntary and mandatory organisation has developed generations of young New Zealanders, providing self-discipline and a range of valuable skills. The Cadet Forces have operated in different forms since 1864, and I feel this has shown the value of this youth organisation. In my view, providing an optional connection to the New Zealand Cadet Forces in schools would connect existing NCEA standards to youth who may not be able to attend programmes outside school.
