Petition request

That the House of Representatives retain the funding model that was in place at the beginning of the 54th Parliament for the Ministry of Disabled People (Whaikaha), Whaikaha’s role delivering disability support services, and the Enabling Good Lives approach.

Petition reason

I believe: Whaikaha has the support of Deaf, low-vision and disabled people, Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti, across ages, abilities, and locations; the decision to move DSS contracting from Whaikaha to MSD was made with little to no consultation with disabled people, families and whānau and limited consultation with providers; the decision to place EGL on hold was made without consulting disabled people, families or whānau; the decisions have degraded communication with the community.
