That the House of Representatives urge the Government to commission an independent review and rewrite of the Ministry of Health’s 2020 endometriosis guidelines, led by Endo Warriors Aotearoa alongside a panel of experts and patients, and make the new guidelines enforceable; and note that 5,964 people have signed a similar petition.
Petition reason
One in ten women, girls, and people assigned female at birth in Aotearoa live with endometriosis, yet face 8–10-year diagnostic delays, with many experiencing dismissal of symptoms, multiple care providers, and regional disparities. The 2020 guidelines are not mandatory, and we believe they are outdated and failing patients. We demand new, official, and enforceable guidelines, co-designed with experts and those with lived experience for equitable, timely, and believing care for all.
