Petition request

That the House of Representatives abolish the Acceptable Standard of Health immigration requirements.

Petition reason

We want to live in a welcoming Aotearoa founded on the mutual respect of Te Tiriti where our diverse communities all feel they belong. But right now, we think our immigration system devalues migrants with disabilities and health conditions and their families by deeming them cost burdens to the state. Our view is that this is an ableist position out of step with our UN international human rights obligations. We believe this discrimination splits families and is costly, stressful, and unjust.
