That the House of Representatives urge the Government to reverse the decision to begin charging for free data including accurate stolen status in October as part of the planned "Fees review".
Petition reason
I believe if the changes go ahead it will put the public in danger, advantage criminals and create more work for the police. The NZTA will change free access to a vehicle's accurate stolen status to 19c/query from Oct/2023. In my view CarJam delivers millions of free accurate checks monthly to the public based on this query and CarJam cannot absorb this cost. The alternative Police website is 10 hours behind and does not include all vehicles.
