Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to sever all relations with the state of Israel until the House is satisfied that Israel has observed the rights of Palestinians: to return, under UN General Assembly resolution 194(III); and to vote, under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Article 25b.

Petition reason

In 1948, the UN General Assembly resolved that Palestinian refugees, who we consider were expelled through terror, should be allowed to return to their homes. This resolution is reconfirmed by the UN every year, and NZ supported this resolution between 2022 and 2025. Israel allows some Palestinians inside the land Israel controls to vote in Israeli elections but most Palestinians do not have that same right to vote. We believe this is just like discrimination was in Apartheid South Africa.
