That the House of Representatives urge the Government to consider introducing a New Zealand Defence Force “wounded in service” medal.

Petition reason

I think a dedicated New Zealand Defence Force “wounded in service” medal would offer recognition for operational ranks who have been seriously injured either physically or psychologically whilst undertaking their duties. I believe recognising sacrifice through such a medal would demonstrate a strong commitment to personnel welfare and would ensure service is seen and remembered, which I think could improve recruitment and retention by reassuring recruits that their risks are valued.
