Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to establish a nationally consistent, long-term support pathway for survivors of sexual violence, including more post-court support, coordinated services, whānau support, and earlier access to appropriate financial assistance.

Petition reason

Sexual violence can have long-term effects on survivors and whānau, including impacts on wellbeing, employment, education and financial security. Government information identifies gaps in coordination, access to follow-up support, and long-term healing services. We believe survivors should have coordinated support beyond the immediate crisis and criminal justice process, with support that can continue or be re-accessed when ongoing needs arise.
