Petition request

That the House of Representatives undertakes an inquiry into virtual fencing to review which components of the currently available virtual fencing technology for dairy cows are or are not acceptable to the public, milk consumers, and export markets for milk products.

Petition reason

I believe virtual fencing technology risks breaking the bond and relationship between caregiving workers and animals to the detriment of both animal and worker wellbeing. The issue has only been considered by MPI's National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee. Dairy supply farmers have not been consulted about the risk to their industry reputation, of technology which I believe could be seen as objectifying, robotifying, brainwashing, or subjugating sentient animals.
