Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the New Zealand Government to suspend diplomatic engagement with Iran, launch an international investigation into killings and disappearances, publicly condemn human rights abuses, and actively engage with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to support a peaceful democratic transition; and note that 1,162 people have signed an online petition in support.

Petition reason

Iranian protesters face lethal force, arrests, and communications blackouts. Families in NZ cannot contact loved ones; reports suggest tens of thousands of deaths. I believe that martial law and lockdowns have created fear and uncertainty, and immediate government action is needed to protect civilians, uphold human rights, and support affected families.
