Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to establish a bipartisan 50-year national energy strategy that aims to secure affordable, reliable supply by including coal and gas as transitional fuels, alongside investment in renewables.

Petition reason

New Zealand faces rising energy costs and declining gas reserves, and I believe is at risk of deindustrialisation. I think that renewables are vital but cannot yet replace fossil fuels. To protect households, jobs, and industry, I believe a bipartisan 50-year strategy is needed, keeping coal and gas as transitional fuels while investing in renewables, storage, and grid upgrades. I think that security, affordability, and fairness must guide policy to ensure a balanced and sustainable future.
