Petition request
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to lift border restrictions against holders of temporary work visas, like the Essential Skills Work Visa, with existing jobs and lives in New Zealand, so that those caught outside New Zealand when the lockdown was enforced can return.
Petition reason
While the status of these work visas is temporary, there are many who have made their lives in New Zealand, ranging from months to years, who serve crucial roles to various economies in the country. Temporary work visa holders, especially those who have lives and jobs in the country, are part of the community. They pay taxes and contribute like regular residents, despite being outside of New Zealand. I believe they deserve to return to their lives and jobs as much as residents and citizens do.
