Petition request
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to formally recognise exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the opposition of the Islamic Republic of Iran and urge the Prime Minister to propose to invite him to address the New Zealand Parliament, either in person or online.
Petition reason
We believe exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is a unifying voice for Iranians seeking a secular democracy, human rights, and an end to authoritarian rule, and that formal recognition would demonstrate New Zealand’s support for these aspirations. We believe an address to Parliament, either in person or online, would give MPs the opportunity to hear his vision for a peaceful, Iranian-led democratic transition, while affirming that Iran’s future must ultimately be determined freely by its people.
