That the House of Representatives urge the Minister of Education to direct the Ministry of Education to work with the East City Community Trust and Selwyn College to resolve matters relating to the funding and operation of Barfoot & Thompson Stadium in Kohimarama, Auckland.

Petition reason

We believe the licence to occupy agreement entered into in 1986 in respect of the stadium was based on the amount of gymnasium space the school was required to provide, rather than the school's actual use of the stadium, and was not intended to share costs equitably. The arrangement has resulted in uncertainty regarding funding responsibilities between the Ministry of Education and Selwyn College. We seek a fair and sustainable funding arrangement that reflects the actual use of the facility.
