Petition request
That the House of Representatives ask the Government to work with representatives and local government in Auckland to deliver surface light rail in Auckland, in order to provide resilient, cost-effective, and sustainable public transport in areas of significant demographic growth; and note that 73 people have signed a similar petition.
Petition reason
The incoming Government wants to end existing light rail plans in Auckland. I believe this is a mistake and means losing millions of taxpayer dollars. Aucklanders spend more than 78 hours sitting in traffic every year, creating emissions, and wasting our lives. I believe our city needs a public transport solution that saves our time, supports the environment, and creates jobs, such as surface light rail as advocated by the Mayor of Auckland Wayne Brown and Auckland Central MP Chlöe Swarbrick.
