That the House of Representatives urge the Minister of Immigration to exercise ministerial discretion to enable the two remaining single daughters of an Afghan family to reunite permanently with their parents and siblings in New Zealand.
Petition reason
Our experience is: our family was evacuated from Afghanistan to NZ in 2021 because our father supported the NZ Defence Force; due to their ages, our two single daughters could not join us and remain stranded in Iran; they are qualified doctors and face serious risks as Afghan women with an uncertain future and risk of deportation. We feel years of separation have caused significant hardship and that our family has exceptional humanitarian circumstances. We ask for a compassionate solution.
