Petition request
That the House of Representatives make substantial changes to the dog ownership legislation, and urge the Government and local governments to change relevant policies, rules, and bylaws, in order to end the problem of roaming dogs in New Zealand.
Petition reason
I have personally been a victim of several incidents involving roaming dogs over the years, which has shattered my ability to walk confidently around my own community. It's not just a personal struggle; I believe the problem of roaming dogs is widely spread and uncontrolled throughout New Zealand. I feel the safety of New Zealanders in their local streets and parks is at stake, and that we need a comprehensive revision of dog ownership rules and bylaws to make our communities safe again.
