That the House of Representatives urge the Government to strengthen fiscal transparency and accountability by requiring a clearer framework for: public explanations for government deficits and borrowing, comprehensive reporting on the outcomes achieved through public expenditure, and credible plans for maintaining sustainable public finances.

Petition reason

I believe taxpayers work hard to contribute to New Zealand's economy and deserve transparency and accountability for how public money is spent, and that persistent deficits and borrowing raise concerns about spending efficiency and long-term financial sustainability. In my view, the Government should justify its spending decisions, demonstrate measurable results, and ensure future generations are not burdened with unnecessary debt.
