Petition request

That the House of Representatives amend Standing Orders and parliamentary petition platform rules to remove 300/500-character limits on parliamentary petitions and enable supporting evidence attachments for petitions collecting signatures (PDF format), published on the Parliament website.

Petition reason

I believe strict character limits restrict citizens from articulating complex statutory arguments, detailing human rights breaches, or providing essential legal context. In my view, forcing public interest petitions into truncated snippets operates as an administrative barrier that strips submissions of substance, hinders parliamentary oversight, and frustrates constitutional rights under the Bill of Rights 1688 (Art 5) to petition Parliament for redress of grievances.
