That the House of Representatives urge the Government to ensure that mail with the correct postage that is clearly addressed to accessible business premises is delivered and not returned to sender.
Petition reason
NZ Post’s public contract says that mail will be delivered to business premises if an appropriate mailbox or letter slot is provided, or if a reception desk or shop counter is close to the main entrance. However, mail addressed to a street address is now returned to sender by NZ Post if the business or public institution also has a PO Box or Private Bag. We think New Zealanders sending mail with the correct postage to street addresses have the right to expect that their mail will be delivered.
