That the House of Representatives investigate Tauranga City Council’s off-market and closed-door property transactions over $2 million since the appointment of Commissioners and under the current Council, and assess whether these met transparency, accountability and democratic standards under the Local Government Act 2002.

Petition reason

Concerns have arisen about council property transactions being completed off-market, behind closed doors, or without open competition. Details such as pricing, valuation, and decision-making processes have been withheld. It appears to me that deals have gained value through zoning or planning changes that I do not consider have been clearly explained to ratepayers. I believe an independent investigation is needed to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper stewardship of public assets.
