Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to acknowledge and review the delay in establishing enforceable methamphetamine contamination regulations, and investigate the financial impact on affected property owners and consider appropriate redress.

Petition reason

Methamphetamine contamination has been recognised since at least 2010, yet enforceable regulation was not introduced until 2026. For over a decade, landlords, tenants, and testing professionals have operated under non-binding guidance, which I believe has led to conflicting thresholds and unresolved technical issues such as oversampling. I believe this has resulted in uncertainty, inconsistent outcomes, and significant financial impact on property owners and affected parties.
