That the House of Representatives amend the Employment Relations Act 2000 to require a 'Social and Economic Impact Audit' before resident knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) roles can be moved offshore, and to introduce a 'local first' priority clause to protect the New Zealand domestic labour market.
Petition reason
Currently, New Zealand businesses can make resident workers redundant to move those same functions overseas solely to capitalise on lower wage environments. In my view, this is a "race to the bottom" that undermines the Kiwi middle class, erodes our domestic tax base & local spending, increases welfare costs, and results in a permanent loss of institutional knowledge.
