Petition request
That the House of Representatives stop any work on the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill and instead work towards entrenching He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni and Te Tiriti o Waitangi into our constitution; and note that more than 203,653 people have signed a similar online petition.
Petition reason
As rangatahi, we believe the bill will affect our generation most and that it challenges our rights, our future and the promises of Te Tiriti. We think that to be silent would be to betray our tūpuna and our mokopuna to come. This is a statement of opposition and a declaration that we will not accept what we see as this Government’s attempts to redefine our history and our future. We stand for the promises of Te Tiriti, for the mana of our people and the dignity of all who call this whenua home.
