That the House of Representatives urge the Government to provide more funding to Netsafe or a new organisation to assist with prevention of online harm and prevention of scams 24 hours a day, including public holidays.
Petition reason
The reason is because Netsafe operates its helpline during business days and hours. Since scams and online harm can occur outside these hours, I believe that having after-hours human support is essential to avoiding and dealing with scams at the earliest opportunity. Scams, bullying, and harm also occur in weekends and public holidays so I think to prevent further harm having an organisation operating all days and hours would benefit all. Scammers operate all hours and from different countries.
