That the House of Representatives allocate funding to re-build and modernise the Marsden Point Refinery.
Petition reason
As an island nation vulnerable to naval blockades, sanctions and boycotts, I believe that New Zealand requires energy independence that is locally sourced. In my view, we cannot afford to be totally dependent on a 'Global Energy Source' as natural and man-made disasters abroad can and do disrupt logistical supplies of oil, gas, fertilisers, and trade vessels that require petroleum-based fuels. I think it is essential that Marsden Point be re-opened ASAP on an emergency funding basis!
