That the House of Representatives urgently direct the development of a government-facilitated, community-led, values-based national food strategy; the strategy to be holistic and create a better, fairer, more connected and delicious food system.
Petition reason
I believe: we need a gov't-facilitated, community-led, values based, national food strategy and domestic food system that feeds NZers well; we face a cost of living crisis, a climate emergency, geopolitical instability & some of the world's worst food-related health burdens; approximately 20% of NZ households with children are food insecure & there is inequity of access for all of us; this erodes mana, leads to low resilience in communities & contributes to unnecessary, poor health outcomes.
