Petition request

That the House of Representatives recognise Tourette Syndrome (TS) as a standalone government-supported disability by allowing those with Tourette Syndrome (TS) access to government-funded disability support services.

Petition reason

Tourette Syndrome is recognised as a disability under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. I feel that the rights of people with TS should be upheld. Tics can impact one’s ability to participate in society, affect family, and cause physical damage to the home. I believe people living with TS deserve access to disability support to enjoy an improved quality of life. This petition request is supported by the Tourette’s Association of New Zealand and Uncle Tics.
