That the House of Representatives urge the Government to limit Powerball jackpots to $12m with special draws of $21m, pause the upcoming Powerball rule changes before they take effect on 13 September 2026, and make it easier for small national and community charities to get lotteries funding.

Petition reason

The changes add four new numbers (11-14) to the Powerball draw, raise the starting jackpot from $4 million to $5 million, and introduce a new Division 8. The official details confirm that the odds of winning Division 1 will change from 1 in 38.4 million to 1 in 53.7 million per line. For a small country of 5.4 million people, I think these are entirely unreasonable odds. In my view, raising the jackpot triggers extra spending. When this occurs, I believe children and families always suffer.
