That the House of Representatives enact legislation requiring political parties to register core, measurable election commitments; establish independent parliamentary oversight to monitor delivery and publish performance reports; and require political leaders to explain significant departures from those core election campaign promises.

Petition reason

Election commitments are central to the democratic mandate given by voters, yet New Zealand has no independent mechanism to systematically register, monitor, and/or assess delivery between elections. I believe a transparent accountability framework would strengthen the integrity of the electoral process, improve public information, and enable voters to assess government performance against commitments on which electoral support was sought, helping restore confidence in democratic accountability.
