Petition request
That the House of Representatives condemn racial intimidation targeting Indian, South Asian, Chinese, and other Asian communities in New Zealand, and review whether current laws adequately protect those communities from hate, harassment, and incitement.
Petition reason
I feel everyone should live safely and with dignity, regardless of race. Indian and Asian communities are 17.3% of the population, and 55.6% of those aged 15 or older hold tertiary qualifications. To me, these communities contribute heavily to our economy, education, healthcare, engineering, and infrastructure. As an Indian man, I see that anti-Indian rhetoric, Brian Tamaki-linked protests, and racist intimidation make many of us fear hatred could escalate, as seen in the Christchurch attacks.
