Petition request
That the House of Representatives urge the Government to restore permanent, in-person public dermatology services in Dunedin and Southern regions; acknowledge any harm caused by the lack of specialist dermatology services; and provide funding for long-term, equitable access to specialist skin care.
Petition reason
I think residents of Dunedin and the wider Southern region deserve the same access to specialist healthcare as people living elsewhere in New Zealand. I feel this current lack of locally accessible public dermatology services places an unacceptable burden on patients, families, general practitioners, and other hospital services. Severe dermatological conditions can cause chronic pain, infection, disability, and death. Delays in diagnosis can affect outcomes.
